David is a trial attorney who focuses his practice on representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic personal injuries. David served the United States as a federal prosecutor in San Diego and successfully investigated, prosecuted, and tried numerous cases to verdict that involved public corruption, weapons trafficking, drug trafficking, robbery, fraud, assault, and immigration violations. He then took his substantial litigation and courtroom experience to The Gomez Firm to fight for individuals who have been harmed.
David graduated college from Emory University as a member of the Dean’s List and an all-conference soccer goalkeeper. He then worked as an English professor for grade school students in Central and South America and acquired a working fluency of the Spanish language. After teaching, David attended the University of San Diego School of Law where he graduated with honors and as a member of the Order of the Coif. During law school, David interned for the Honorable M. Margaret McKeown on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Upon graduation, David worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Janis L. Sammartino in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. After his federal clerkship, David joined the San Diego office of a top international law firm, Cooley LLP, and represented individuals and Fortune 500 companies in complex employment, business, and products liability disputes. David then returned to public service and gained substantial jury trial experience working as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office in San Diego. He successfully tried over ten cases to verdict, including a high profile, six week case against corrupt United States Border Patrol agents whom the jury ultimately found guilty of smuggling illegal aliens, taking bribes, and money laundering.
David has further helped the San Diego community through his work with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program, the Children at Risk Committee of the San Diego County Bar Association, and the environmental Surfrider Foundation. David is also a guest speaker at the University of San Diego School of Law and helps mentor aspiring attorneys through the law school’s Alumni Office. David lives in North County and in his free time he enjoys staying active by playing soccer, tennis, cycling, surfing, and hiking.
